The attorneys at Jones Ward PLC represent people injured in all types of vehicular accidents, including those that involve bicyclists and pedestrians. Sadly, people who fall into those latter two categories often have serious and permanent impairments, and sometimes they are killed.
That's what happened late Friday night in Louisville when a man on foot was hit by a minivan in the 16600 block of Aiken Road in eastern Jefferson County, just outside the Gene Snyder Freeway. Police said the collision happened around midnight when a woman driving a Kia Sedona heading eastbound struck the man who then died at the scene. It is unclear if the pedestrian was partly at fault in this wreck, but drivers should keep in mind that pedestrians almost always have the right of way. If the minivan's driver was negligent, the family members and survivors of the pedestrian will have a cause of action against the driver and may recover on the pedestrian's behalf. But in a situation like this, there are lots of things to do in order to preserve your rights, reconstruct what happened, and gather necessary evidence.
